The rules that keep our community safe and trustworthy.
Last updated: January 23, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
Welcome to Nera. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services.
Nera provides a platform for users to create and join real-world group activities ("Events," also referred to as "Quests" within the app). Our service facilitates connections between individuals for social experiences in public settings.
2. Eligibility
You must:
- •Be at least 18 years of age
- •Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
- •Not be prohibited from using the service under applicable laws
- •Provide accurate and truthful information during registration
- •Maintain the security of your account credentials
3. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- •All activity that occurs under your account
- •Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- •Immediately notifying us of any unauthorized account access
- •Ensuring your profile information remains accurate and up-to-date
- •Your own safety when attending events
4. Social Credits and Event Participation
4.1 Starting Balance: All new users receive 100 social credits upon account creation. Founding Members who joined the waitlist before public launch receive 150 credits instead (see Section 15).
4.2 Credit Staking: Creating or joining an event requires staking 10 social credits. These credits serve as a commitment mechanism to ensure serious participation.
4.3 Credit Recovery & Attendance Bonus: When you successfully attend and check in to an event, your 10 staked credits are returned plus a 5-credit attendance bonus (15 credits total). No-shows or cancellations within 24 hours of the scheduled time will result in forfeiture of staked credits.
4.4 Achievement Bonuses: You may earn additional credits by reaching milestones on the platform, such as completing your first event, attending a streak of events, or hosting multiple events. Bonus amounts vary by achievement and are subject to change.
4.5 No Cash Value: Social credits have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash, goods, or services outside the Nera platform.
4.6 Non-Transferable: Credits are tied to your account and cannot be transferred, sold, or gifted to other users.
5. Event Creation and Participation
5.1 Public Locations Only: All events must take place in public venues. Private residences or isolated locations are strictly prohibited.
5.2 Group Size: Events must accommodate between 2 and 8 participants to maintain the group safety dynamic.
5.3 Accurate Information: Event creators must provide truthful and accurate information about the activity, location, and timing.
5.4 Cancellation Policy: Event creators may cancel up to 24 hours before the scheduled time. Cancellations within 24 hours will result in forfeiture of staked credits and may impact reliability scores.
5.5 Check-In Requirement: Participants must check in during the designated window (event time + 3 hours) to receive credit returns and maintain reliability scores. Check-in requires uploading 1-3 photos as proof of attendance.
5.6 Authorized Participants Only: Only users who have officially joined an event through the Nera platform are authorized to attend. Bringing uninvited guests is strictly prohibited. Violations may result in credit penalties, reliability score reductions, and account suspension.
6. Reliability Score System
6.1 Purpose: The reliability score (1000-2000 scale) tracks your participation history and commitment to attending events. All users start at a score of 1500 (Reliable tier).
6.2 Score Tiers: 1700+ = Highly Reliable; 1500-1699 = Reliable; 1300-1499 = Building Trust; Below 1300 = New/At Risk.
6.3 Impact: Your score is visible to other users and may affect your ability to join certain events. Consistently low scores may result in account restrictions.
6.4 Score Increases: Your score increases when you successfully complete events, maintain attendance streaks, and host successful events.
6.5 Score Decreases: Your score decreases for no-shows, late cancellations (within 24 hours of an event), early cancellations, and receiving community reports. The severity of the decrease depends on the infraction: no-shows carry the largest penalty, followed by late cancellations. Reports are weighted by severity level (minor, major, or severe).
7. Prohibited Conduct
You may not:
- •Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users
- •Create events with fraudulent or misleading information
- •Use the platform for dating, romantic solicitation, or sexual purposes
- •Engage in commercial solicitation or spam
- •Impersonate any person or entity
- •Create events at private residences or isolated locations
- •Share inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content
- •Attempt to manipulate the credit or reliability score systems
- •Use bots, scrapers, or automated systems to access the platform
- •Violate any applicable laws or regulations
7b. Blocking Other Users
7b.1 Right to Block: You may block any user at any time. Blocked users will appear as 'Hidden User' in events and will not be able to see your profile or interact with you.
7b.2 Mutual Effect: Blocking is mutual — neither party can view the other's profile, join the other's events, or send messages to one another.
7b.3 Reversible: You may unblock a user at any time through your account settings.
8. Safety and Liability
8.1 Your Responsibility: You are solely responsible for your own safety when attending events. While we provide safety features and guidelines, we cannot guarantee the safety of any interaction.
8.2 Background Checks: Nera does not conduct background checks on users. You should exercise caution and use your best judgment when attending events.
8.3 Verification: While we implement phased identity revelation and reliability scores, we do not verify the accuracy of user-provided information.
8.4 Disclaimer: Nera is not responsible for any injuries, losses, or damages arising from your participation in events. You participate at your own risk.
9. Reporting and Enforcement
9.1 Report Violations: If you experience or witness behavior that violates these Terms, report it immediately through the platform. You may report users you have shared an event with.
9.2 Report Categories: Reports may be filed for: no-show, late without notice, rude or disrespectful behavior, inappropriate behavior, harassment, unsafe behavior, spam or scam activity, or other violations.
9.3 Severity Levels: Reports are classified as minor, major, or severe. Each level carries a corresponding impact on the reported user's reliability score, with severe reports resulting in the greatest penalty.
9.4 Automatic Actions: Filing a report automatically blocks the reported user. Reliability score penalties are applied based on report severity. Reports are reviewed within 24-48 hours.
9.5 Investigation: We reserve the right to investigate reports and take appropriate action, including account suspension or termination.
9.6 Discretion: We are not obligated to take action on every report and may exercise discretion in enforcement decisions.
10. Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of the Nera platform, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software, are owned by Nera and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You retain ownership of content you post, but grant Nera a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content in connection with the service.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.
You may delete your account at any time through the platform settings. Unused credits will be forfeited upon account deletion.
12–14. Disclaimers, Liability & Indemnification
12. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nera shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Nera, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these Terms.
15. Founding Member Program
15.1 Eligibility: Users who join our waitlist before the official public launch are eligible for Founding Member status.
15.2 Benefits: Founding Members receive 150 social credits upon account creation. These credits are subject to all terms outlined in Section 4.
15.3 One-Time Award: Founding Member credits are awarded once per user and cannot be claimed multiple times through multiple accounts.
15.4 Program Changes: We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Founding Member program at any time without prior notice.
16–17. Changes & Governing Law
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or through the platform. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Nera operates, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the service shall be resolved through binding arbitration.
